ABOUT US

Brief Background
Karin Housing Association was initially established in 1988 as the Karin housing Co-op. Its founder members were a group of black women who wanted to address the housing and social needs of the Somali community and others in London. Karin is an exempt charity registered (X33775) with the Financial Service Authority under the Industrial and Providence Society Act 1965 No (26815). Karin is affiliated to the National Housing Federation and Federation of black Housing Organization.
Karin believes the community should be fully involved in the work of Karin, whilst working in partnership with other organisations and being accountable to its tenants, service users, financial supporters and Management Board. We also believe that having a secure home is acknowledged as the key to effective settlement and integration of a new community.
Karin has developed principles of good governance that focus on the organisations purpose, and on outcomes for the citizen and service user. We want all stakeholders to feel empowered, enthusiastic and passionate about the services we deliver. These include: Performing effective and clear defined functions and roles
Promoting values for the whole organisation whilst demonstrating good governance through behaviour
Developing the capacity and capability of our governing body to being effective
Taking informed and transparent decisions whilst effectively managing risk
